Resilience

Merriam-Webster defines resilience as an ability to recover from or adjust easily to misfortune or change.

The flowers in this photo were gifted to me on December 26, 2024. This picture was taken on January 13, 2025. I have only changed the water twice and removed dried leaves once. These daisies are the definition of resilience. They are cheerful and colorful in the dead of winter, content to have fresh water so they can continue their happy job of bringing joyful energy into my home.

The angels have another important message for those who will hear it: 2025 will be most successful for those with resilience.

How does one become resilient when there is no need for resilience without adversity. Truth be told, sometimes it seems easier to put our cards on the table and fold rather than continue on in the face of adversity. There is a lot of “pelting” going on for everyone right now - like stepping out into a hail storm, where just one drop of hail would sting your face but they’re all around and inescapable. OK- that’s an exaggeration, but you know what I mean. The angels are insisting that we don’t let the myriad events that are taxing our resolve knock us down. Luckily, they have an answer: Spiritual Practice.

There are hundred of different spiritual practices from which to choose, but the most important parts are: prayer, meditation, and visualization. I found Reiki as the spiritual practice that has helped me focus on these parts daily, and I think it’s why I’m so excited to teach it to others.

Prayer is simply a conversation with the Divine. Whether you believe in an omnipotent god with a religious basis or Mother Nature is more your style, it’s about taking time to speak/think words of gratitude into existence. My nightly routine before drifting off to sleep is to say “thank you” for all my many blessings.

Meditation is about centering and grounding yourself and your soul. It can be a traditional meditation practice, or a daily walk, a salt bath, or just breathing in and out in a balanced rhythm to bring you back into the present moment. It’s about quieting the outside noise, if only for a single breath. And, it is a practice…not a perfect!

Visualization is when you take time to put into your thoughts and mind that which you would like to see as reality. My visualizations include: rain pouring on wildfires; people helping one another simply because they need help, regardless of the way they look, love, worship, or vote; the coral reefs turning rainbow colors again; and our world leaders caring about the people they are leading and the lands they live on.

If we can imagine it, we can believe it. If we can dream it, we can become it. (William Arther Ward).

The angels say there is truth to this and are imploring us all to up our spiritual practice today. Practice makes better, and the more practicing we do, the more we can create the world we envision.
