Outcome, Not Obstacles
In keeping with the formula that has served me well over the last three years, I am listening to my angels regarding my “next step”. The hardest part about following this formula is that they never EVER lead me back to my bed under my warm covers to hibernate on the coldest days of the year. I would like to say for the record, I like my warm covers on freezing cold days! Instead, it ALWAYS involves stepping out of my comfort zone and doing something I’ve never done before.
When I pay attention to my angels, I am happier and things go more smoothly. Even when I don’t know what I’m doing, there always seems to be someone that shows up to encourage me or show me the way. It’s funny - even though this is road is new to me, and my route is unlike anyone else’s, there has been nothing that someone hasn’t already figured out a formula for success if I’m willing to follow it.
The biggest obstacle is getting overwhelmed. If you have dared to try something new, you know what I’m talking about. Last week I took a bootcamp webinar on writing a book (yes- that’s my latest thing!). We covered everything from writing a hook, to getting editors, agents, and publishing, not to mention doing your own marketing. It’s A LOT of work, and a lot of steps, and I daresay a lot of people who dream of writing books take one look and promptly throw their hands up and say, “I’m out!”
Lucky for me I have a very dear and very wise friend who saw my enthusiasm and encouraged me. When I mentioned the cost of all the various steps and my uncertainty that enough people would ever know my book existed to recoup the time, effort, and money that goes into taking an idea and getting it to a saleable point, she said to me the most angelic thing I’ve heard all week. She said, “One step at a time. Focus on the outcome, not the obstacles.”
My friends, that is the angel message for all of us: One step at a time. Focus on the outcome, not the obstacles. No matter what you have in front of you at this moment, take the next step. Focus on where you want to be. I’m reminded an incident I had when I was learning to ride my bike. There was a big driveway and a little rock in front of me. Instead of focusing on where I wanted to go, I focused on that little rock. Of course, I hit that rock and tipped over because I was focusing on the obstacle. If I had looked up and focused on the space I had to ride, I would’ve been fine. It’s the same with life - look up. Quit focusing on what might get in the way because it surely will if you focus on it. What is the outcome you desire? The angels want to remind you your desires are no mistake, focus on them. Take one step, then the next, then the next. Before you know it you will be following your soul’s path.
