Curses

Curses: they can be a delightful way to blow off steam at the unexpected, the unwanted, and even painful. Four-letter words can be as cathartic as anything. But, when you are feeling like you’re the recipient of curses, it feels a little less cathartic and more irritating.

During the past few days, quite a few members of my family have ended up in the ER for various health and wellness reasons. One wonders, in passing, if not seriously, has there been a curse causing so many things needing medical attention within one family?

The angelic answer is: no. Our human brains like to make sense of things, and curses would make an easy answer to this rather widespread situation, but there is no curse…a lot of cursing…but no curse. It’s more a combination of not enough sleep, not paying attention, and spiritually, a need to slow down

Everyone I’ve talked to has a lot going on right now. There are so many things that are vying for our focus and attention that nothing is getting the attention it needs. This is resulting in missing clues and signs that are sent to keep us healthy and safe.

If the check engine light blinks at us from our car dashboard, we know that the longer we ignore it, the more likely we are to have a serious problem, or even an accident with our car. If our body gives us clues that something we are consuming or doing is making us not feel well, we know that if we persist, we may end up with a damaged or dis-eased, or even diseased body. When so many people are so busy “going, going, going” or “doing, doing, doing”, they are missing very important signs that may keep them safe and well.

The angels are imploring us to SLOW DOWN. Pay attention to what is going on, first, within you, and then, around you. What is your body asking you to pay attention to? Are there some sensations you haven’t noticed before? Do you need more sleep? Do you need better fuel - more water and high quality, unprocessed food? Are you getting those internal messages to pay attention as you walk down each step, or pick out a pair of stylish, but impractical shoes?  Paying attention can make a significant difference.

Once you have successfully paid close attention to your own internal workings, look outside yourself. What is going on in your surroundings? Does someone near you need help? Does something need attending to that has been neglected? Can you be the one to fix it, or is it catching your attention so you can locate the person who has the skills to make it right?

Remember, just like the flight attendants remind us to put our own oxygen mask on first, it’s important to check within yourself and your own needs first. Once your own needs have been met, please don’t neglect your surroundings and your neighbors. It is a myth that there are any borders that separate us. The view from space shows ONE planet Earth and we are all in this together. It’s up to us to take care of ourselves, each other, and our planet. We are all made up of the same matter, and recognizing and honoring that will serve us best.

Peace to you, my friends. I’m wishing you a month free from curses. Slow down, pay attention, and take care of yourself. Love,

Margaret Rose
