Isn’t That Interesting?!
On March 31, 2022, I had my first reiki therapy session. I had no idea what to expect, only that ten days earlier, during a reflexology and channeling session in Sedona, Arizona, I was told that I should “do reiki”. Since I knew a reiki teacher back home, I immediately checked out her website for available classes and decided I should experience that which I was about to learn. My Reiki I Class was scheduled for April 7th, so time was of essence.
What I thought was that reiki was an energy healing modality that helped bring a sense of peace and calm, and even helped with physical aches and pains. I wasn’t wrong…but I wasn’t exactly right either. Over the last three years, what I’ve come to understand deep within my soul is that Reiki is a spiritual practice through which regular and consistent connection with Divine Energy helps the practitioner to channel Divine Love Energy through their crown chakra, to their heart chakra, and out their hands to a willing receiver to help unblock and balance their energy resulting in a calm somatic state. In order to keep a strong channel with Universal Life-Force Energy (or LOVE Energy), the strongest Reiki Practitioners regularly do self-reiki as well as some form of meditation and/or prayer. This strengthens their connection to the Divine and opens psychic and intuitive abilities, and makes them stronger “healers”.
My experience has included all of the above, including my ability to channel angelic messages…but a funny thing happened on my way to becoming a Reiki Master-Teacher:
In the last three years I have become a much more “zen” person. I believe this is because of the spiritual practice aspect of Reiki.
I can give you the history of Reiki. I can explain to you all about the chakras and your auric field, and why clearing and balancing them is beneficial. I can tell you which internal organ is linked with anger (the liver). But, by far the biggest gift that Reiki has given me over the past three years is a new perspective. Through this process of prayer, meditation, and channeling love energy through my body each day, I believe it has changed the chemistry of my brain.
Now, when something I would not prefer happens, instead of reacting, as I once would, I have shifted my perspective.
Isn’t that interesting?! Someone cuts me off on the freeway. Isn’t that interesting? I can’t find my keys and am running late. Isn’t that interesting? I plan a class and nobody signs up. Isn’t that interesting? My weekend clears and multiple people reach out for sessions or classes. Isn’t that interesting?
Instead of taking things personally, as if the universe is out to get me, I am able to see things less as good or bad, but as lessons to help me grow. I’ve been able to see the spark of Divine within me, and, in turn, love myself - this incarnation and creation of myself, which has helped me to see and love the Divine in all living beings.
Did it happen overnight? Absolutely not. Do I falter sometimes? Absolutely…but less and less the more often I follow my Reiki Practice.
In the last two years, I’ve given over three dozen Reiki Attunements. I absolutely LOVE sharing and teaching reiki. It’s not about teaching people how to do “energy healing” as much as presenting a way of life that has peace at its core.
If this sounds like something you want to try, my next Reiki I Class is this Friday, March 28, 2025, 10-4pm. (Register by Wed. 3/26 so I can get your supplies and certificate ready). If, like me, you’re thinking you should probably start with a reiki session (or sessions), contact me and we can find a time that fits in both our schedules. It just might change your life!
