Storytime

I had the opportunity to meet the most wonderful storyteller over the weekend. I asked her to tell me a story and this is how I remember it: There was a star. It was a beautiful, bright star up in the galaxy but it was near an even brighter star that was close to a planet. The star that shone on the planet was so bright that it provided light to the planet all day, and the little star felt insignificant beside it, but it shined its light for all to see. And one night on the planet, there was a starfish on a beach. The light of the little star shined down and reflected on that starfish. It reflected so bright that it shined all the way back up to the little star, and the little star saw its reflection.

That story was channeled for me, but the angels reminded me of it this morning as I was getting ready and let me know it’s for YOU too! We are all that little star, thinking we’re not bright enough and can never make a difference when there are stars much brighter than us all around. The humble truth is: the brightest, closest star does not shine in the darkness. This is where we are asked to shine our lights with all our might. We are all needed, and we may not see our light reflected back at us everyday, but it’s important that we shine our light out into the darkness. We never know who may need our illumination.

As I write this, it’s a new moon in December - perhaps the darkest night of the year, as we head toward the longest night of the year. This is our reminder that our light is needed. And, a reminder that if you need the light, look up! There are so many lights shining around us to help us in these dark times. What a glorious gift.

And thank you, Laura at laurapacker.com for your illuminating story. It was such a gift to meet you and share your light!
