The Boss
1984 rocked my world! I went to high school across the street from a totally rad mall and was able to support my fashion habit through my job at the county pool and babysitting. I developed a big crush on a cute junior boy and learned how to fold and pass notes to my best girlfriends about our crushes without getting caught. My dad’s body was being ravaged by adrenal cancer, and I learned how to think about it and not think about it at the same time. I was intent on living a “normal” teen life with “normal” teen heartbreak. Unrequited love seemed “normal” enough. I don’t have a lot of memories from that time in my life, but some are here to stay.
That summer, ten days after my dad passed, my bffs and I experienced a rite of passage: our first concert! We went to see The Cars Heartbeat City concert. Wang Chung opened - and it was fantastic! We couldn’t wait to go to another concert, and as fate would have it, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band was coming to town and tickets were going on sale the following Saturday morning. We got up early to get in line at Ticketmaster so we could experience Born in the USA and Dancing in the Dark LIVE. My dad and the angels worked some magic for us because the three of us got THE LAST TICKETS before they sold out. Our seats were not good, but it didn’t matter. The energy in that dome was palpable, and not a person sat during the 3-hour singing, dancing, and story-telling concert. I was hooked!
It’s been nearly 40 years since I saw Bruce the first time and he is still rocking. It’s kind of amazing, especially since he’s twenty years my senior (more than twice my age when I first saw him!), but it’s what he was born for: his soul’s purpose! That is one of the reasons I was meant to see him in concert all those years ago - not just to add his songs to my playlist to my water aerobics class (Wow! I just realized I’ve been teaching in one way or another since I was 16!!!), but to learn about his life choices since he was 16. Bruuuuuuuce has been listening to that voice inside him since he was very young; answering the call to learn how to play instruments, write hundreds of songs, and be in bands to perform. It wasn’t always easy or lucrative, but anyone looking at this 74 year old performer who still plays 3-hour concerts multiple times a week, all over the world, would be hard-pressed to say his career hasn’t been successful.
What does this have to do with me…or you? It’s about paying attention to the signs. Start with that feeling in your gut. When you ask yourself, “am I on the right path?”, what does it feel like in your stomach, your chest, your neck and head? Do you feel sick to your stomach, tight in your chest, or tension in your neck? That is your clearest answer that “no, this is not the path.” If you feel relaxed, even good or comforted - stay the course. Perhaps you’re noticing signs around you? You’re driving and an eagle flies into your path and drives with you for a bit…what are your thoughts at this moment? This is your sign that you have angelic support in this area. I was making my bed this morning when I saw the Springsteen book next to my husband’s side of the bed and that’s when I knew what today’s blog would be about! Tune into the little things. Angels are constantly trying to get our attention and they will use anything they can. When you realize and trust that our thoughts are one of the ways they try to reach us, you will find it easier to walk your soul path. Important: Angels and Guides will NEVER use negative thoughts or words to guide you. You will be loved and encouraged in a positive direction, but if you’re hearing put-downs or criticism, that’s your ego speaking, not a Christ-Consciousness Connection!
Sometimes, our nudges come from outside sources: Before Bruce Springsteen was a sensation, he was playing on the boardwalk in Asbury Park, New Jersey across from Madame Marie’s Temple of Knowledge. One day, after playing, he walked up to her and said he wanted a reading, but only had 50 cents in his pocket. She said she wouldn’t take his money, but proceeded to tell him that he would one-day be famous. How that must have felt to a guy who had been playing on the boardwalk with a whole 50 cents to show for it!
I know I’ve mentioned it before, but it bears repeating: In 2022, when I was in Sedona, getting reflexology from Lori at Center 4 the New Age, she asked me if I did reiki. I had heard of reiki, but upon her suggestion that I should do it, I got home and immediately booked a class for Reiki I, and since I had about ten days before class, I also booked a my first reiki session. Listening to that angel message changed my life and put me on a new trajectory, one in line with my soul’s path and purpose. I am thankful everyday that I listened to the words of a “stranger” and that feeling in my gut that it was the right thing to do.
Lately, I’ve been listening to a book by Matt Kahn called Whatever Arises, Love That. He keeps repeating, “You deserve more love, not less.” He’s absolutely correct, and what I want to emphasize is that in the signs, the messages, the body responses that you get to making a decision for your life is that YOU DESERVE MORE LOVE, NOT LESS. If the messages you receive don’t align with more love, they aren’t angelic.
I’ve done 100s of Angel Readings in the last year and a half. Never have I ever received a message for myself or someone else of doom and gloom. Angels and Guides are here to help guide us toward our purpose. The “el” in angels names means “of God”, God being LOVE. Love and fear cannot occupy the same space, so know, that messages you receive to help you will always send you in a positive direction.
